I have a new Toshiba laptop that came with Windows 8 on it. I hate it, and want to put Windows 7 on the laptop. I have a Windows 7 install disc. Is there anything I need to know before I attempt the switch?

Well, I figured out how to enter BIOS...to no avail..I received a message that said "unable to install this version of Windows". Thankfully, (sarcasm) it was able to revert back to my previous version of Windows 8. If anyone has ideas on how to install Windows 7 on this system I would greatly appreciate them.

Can I say how much I hate this combination of computer and OS? Can anyone tell me how to enter the BIOS on a Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5305? I have tried F1, holding down F2 while the computer starts up, the same for the escape key. I just want to get Windows 8 off this computer...I can't seem to get into any menu.

You are correct, however there are some settings you must change from the Toshiba system configuration in Windows.

I have a better option for you, install this:

http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/

or

http://www.classicshell.net/

Start8 is 5 dollars, classic shell is free. They will both make Windows 8 look like 7 and hide metro so you never have to see it again.

I appreciate this advice, and I do like having a start menu and disabling the corner swipes. However, I have more issues than just ease of access with Windows 8. I am in the military and Windows 8 seems to not be compatible with my CAC card reader, when I plug it in it say unable to recognize usb device. My sansa MP3 player will all but crash the computer, and I cannot access my military email or training sites. When I say I hate Windows 8 I mean it. I have disabled all the added swipes and tried to make it as much like Windows 7 as I could, but it seems to not be compatible with the things I need it to be.

I wish it were that simple, but it seems to be much more difficult than a simple reformat..

That is rather strange, it should be just as compatible as 7 almost, but I guess as long as 7 works. When you load the windows installer you should be able to delete all the partitions and then install windows 7.

Your CAC reader should work with Win8.

If you're using Outlook Web Access, it should work as well.

Thank you! My card reader was not working and my certificates were out of date. I can at least get to the sites I need to now, as for the MP3 player, I guess I'll just have to get a new one.

What was working last night, does not work today..I don't get it. I went through and did all the changes from militarycac.com...•Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202) is the error message I get now when trying to access the new enterprise email, both from Chrome and IE10. Any ideas?
