HI =)!!

I have about 46 celsius heat on my GPU when I am just browsing the web and watching videos, but when I play games(even 5-6 year old ones) it skyrockets and my PC shuts off due to overheating.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a setting that I may have turned on accidently Dx?

I'm sure it is the GPU, I've monitored it with MSI afterburner and ASUS GPU tweak.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try it unless something else comes up.

Not saying it is the same but sounds like a similar situation I had a week or two ago and found a bit of nasty malware was causing the problem. I was getting an error at first saying basically "video kernel stopped but was successfully restarted" , then the PC just started hanging and shutting off. GPU temps were through the roof. Anyways - look for a process called "iehighutil.exe" and for a new folder on your HDD called "temporary" that is most likely at C:\temporary- kill the process and delete the folder to clear. Also it is referenced in your registry at KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in the registry. Just wanted to share in the off chance it helps! Good luck!

Thanks, but cant find it :S

EDIT : SORRY FOR TRIPLE POST OMG IDK HOW IT HAPPENED DX

There is several 'bitcoin miners' malware out there and they can cause this type of issue: The malware runs a Bitcoin miner which loads the video card to near enough 100% so gijoepoa could be right, so check Task Manager and the video drivers and see if something nasty is loading the system up.
It is more likely the card just needs a clean, when was the last time it was blown out to remove dust?

What am I supposed to look for :S? Where can I view video drivers xP??
I am uploading a bunch of logs to another forum, so hopefully people there will find it :p

can you define "skyrockets" what temps does it reach?

try to run furmark if you can, and post results back here

It goes to 100celsius then shuts off. I'll try to run it later, but I'm running a lot of scans etc atm, dont wanna crash it now.

@ veltins: Open the Task Manager, CTRL+ALT+DEL and look for processes or applications that are using a lot of CPU or memory.
The drivers will either be on an icon in the lower right of the task bar or START>PROGRAMS>ALL PROGRAMS (not sure exactly, it's been a while since I used XP).
If you're having trouble with finding the drivers GPUZ is a free utility that monitors many aspects of the graphics card.

I'm not good at looking for suspicious names and such :/.. There are none that really stands out, though.
I am running some scans atm:

aswMBR Log
ESET Scan Log
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Scan Log
OTL Log(s)
SecurityCheck Log

If anyone think they could help, I could post them on this forum

OK, looks like the malware idea was wrong.
Get GPUZ, it's free and can monitor most aspects of the card.
Next get Furmark and install it.
Start GPUZ and move its window to one side then select the 'sensors' tab, this will show the cards temperatures and fan speed. Start Furmark and run it, but not in fullscreen mode, that way you can move its window so you can see the GPUZ window as well. You should be able to have both open at once so you can see the GPUZ readings while Furmark is running.
Keep a eye on the card fan speed and temperatures, as the card gets hotter the fan should speed up.

Had to close it within a minute or two. GPU went straight to 91 then I closed it. The fan speed increased accordingly.
Guess I'll have to try to re-apply thermal paste.
