Hello People,
I own a Asus VG248QE, this monitor supports 144 HZ. The manufacturer recommends to use an Nvidia card, but I am interested in purchasing an AMD card. I was very interested of the Saphire Vapor - X 7950 3GB, but the manufacturer said that their DVI-D(single) is not compatible with the Asus DVI -D(dual) and their display port isn't compatible with 144hz. The Asus VG248QE only supports 144hz with their Dual DVI-D and Display ports. I am looking for the perfect AMD card that can support 144hz with one these ports: Dual DVI-D and Display ports. Please help me!!!!

So, which AMD card you recommend?

the dual-dvi-d port is recommended for Nvidia with 3D TECHNOLOGY, you can still use an AMD card and even have it connected through HDMI, so if you want 3D playback it is suggested to use Nvidia but you can still use AMD if you so choose to.

I don't know about that particular monitor but I have a Sapphire HD7950 and the DVI port is definitely dual link so Asus seem to just be lying or are at best misinformed. As stated above, you wont see the benefits of 144Hz unless you're running games at 144fps, but you'll definitely notice an improvement over 60Hz as the card is more than capable of dishing out frame rates way over 60 in almost every game once it's overclocked so I would say the HD7950 is perfect for this monitor.

I notice that the Sapphire HD7950 does include the DVI-D dual but the manufacturer of Sapphire says is a DVD-D single

7850, 7870 are great cards for the price, a little faster then the Nvidia counterparts at those price ranges. Not saying Nvidia is bad, my last Nvidia card was the 6800GT OC and ran games like amazingly, but when I went with the newer system I just went AMD because of plenty of reviews and cost. I have no complaints other then may need to upgrade it to play newer games, LOL
