Major issue with Sony Handycam CX-550

Hi-----MAJOR issue with this cam.

Shooting for a class project, not my personal equipment. Had NO idea about the recording near loud sound problem (if I did, I would have NEVER recorded the footage I did b/c it wasn't central to my story...sigh...anyway)

Got the typical "buffer overflow" message, then the "recovering data" message. This all happened around 11:30 A.M. It's now 6:14 P.M. and the SAME data recovery message is displaying.

Terrible thing is, I didn't use an SD/Memory Stick card. So all data is in the internal storage.

Now, I'm not even concerned about the footage so much as the camera. I've been researching and researching on this and it seems no one has had the "data recovery" message as long as I've had it.

What should my next step be? May I also add that trying to turn it on/off with the power button does not work as well.
