The past two video games that I have tried to play on my pc have limited the max resolution. They seem to be auto-detecting my system specs incorrectly and then limiting my graphics. I am playing on a moniter capable of 1920 x 1080. My computer has an i5-3570k OC'd to 4.0 ghz and my graphics card is a gigabyte 7970 ghz edition. Also I have 16gb ram. With these specs I should easily be able to run 1920 x 1080. The only games that have given me trouble so far are GTA IV and GRID. Also, I have successfully been able to run games such as Crysis 3 and Bioshock infinite on 1920x1080. Thanks for your help.

So other games are performing OK for you? I've never heard of such an issue so just throwing random ideas out.

Go to your Catalyst Control Center > Information > Hardware and post here what it's saying. Then go to Desktop Properties > Make sure this is also 1920x1080 with a refresh rate corresponding your monitor. Then go to My Digital Flat-Panels > Properties and make sure GPU scaling is off. You can also try turning it on and see if it will help.

Some additional details might also help pinpoint the cause. What connection are you using? What type of display are you using? Are the games that give you trouble legit and up-to-date? Are your GPU/monitor display drivers up-to-date? Also, just out of curiosity, what's the highest resolution these games allow you to select?

GRID is stuck at 1024x768, and GTA IV is stuck at 800x600 at 56hz. GTA IV also says that my graphics settings are near, or above the suggested limits. I have a 42 inch LCD sharp HDTV that is hooked directly to my graphics card with an HDMI cable. Also, I'm not sure weather I have any drivers for this TV or not.
