cooling an FX-8350 in an azza toledo 301

I'm looking for the best "bang for your buck" (as in coolest, [in decrees c] quietest etc) cooling solution for my FX-8350, I don't really care either way as to water (closed loop and otherwise) or air does the cooling. I'm dealing with a fairly firm budget of about $150 and a system consisting of:

gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 3.0)
AMD FX-8350 (@4ghz but with some OC'ing in the future)
gskill ares 16gb @ 1866 (F3-1866C10D-16GAB)
SeaSonic X Series 650W psu (SS-650KM Active PFC F3) (I may replace this with the 850w if i decide to chuck in a second 7950)
Azza(tek) Toledo 301

at the moment I am looking mostly at closed loop coolers and high end air coolers (for their low maintinance [and they're pretty much all inside my budget, most with a bit left for upgrading fans]) but I am not attempting to overlook the obvious performance of custom loops.

As far as pure price to performance goes, your not going to get much better than a 212 EVO. But yea, you want more than that.
Go for the NH-D14, performs the same as a H100i for about $20 less.

Or, if you want to spend all your cash and go for custom loop, for a $150 you can get yourself a low end XSPC Raystorm kit, which will far outperform air and CLC liquid cooling, while also giving you room to expand on it later.

At the moment, I am leaning most towards CLC for two reasons... over high end air for height (my case has a ridiculous 250mm fan [I love it!]) with rough measurements I have like 40mm left over if I was to put in the noctua (but I wasn't in the best position for the measuring to it could be really far off) and if I was to put in a custom loop... well I doubt that I could stop myself from ripping off my beloved his x2 cooler and the other heatsinks around and cooling them (which I doubt I have the space to do....) so given that... I seem to have narrowed my choices down... alot... Is corsair the end-all-be-all for CLC cooling or should I look into offerings from Cooler Master or Thermaltake etc?

I have this heatsink,but with 2 Scythe Slipstream 110 CFM fans attached instead of the stock ones that came with it.

Asrock 990FX Extreme 9 \ FX8350 \ 5.1 ghz.\ 1.384 volts \ Max Temps mid 50's

It's HUGE but it gets the job done.

You dont want to custom water-cool because your afraid you'l be tempted to water-cool everything?
Well, you just bit the water-cooling bug before it could. I envy you, I'm too far gone and my wallet is paying for it

The H100i is about the best CLC you can get, there is also the Swiftech H220 that blurs the line between CLC and custom loops, but has a price tag so large you might as well just go fully custom anyway.

Lovely to hear form you again Blackbird!
according to newegg's dimensions it should fit... that is if my shoddy measuring is to be trusted (measurements came out to 200mm from motherboard to the crazy 250mm fan I've got) and I love that with air coolers if a fan or (God forbid) two should fail it is essentially unfazed (until fans are replaced) as they're just a big stack of aluminium fins

and good grief 5.1?! heck that cooler is so far and above the stock its crazy, I pull 70's when I'm gaming (I did prime95 once just for laughs... I wasn't laughing after it hit 80... did a very quick quit before it got any higher)

It's huge , but I'm glad I purchased it now.The Scythe Slipstream 110 CFM fans < Tip from 4Ryan6 - knocked it down about 4 degrees over the stock fan setup.

I know me a bit too well to think I could only custom cool the CPU... Heck the reason I even have my build instead if an upgraded HP is the exact same reason I couldn't let it stop at the CPU

At the moment I am torn between the h100i and Blackbird's suggestion

They look like 120mm Sickleflows.

IMO, if the cooler comes with some paste then just use that. The difference between the best and worst paste is 3°C, and on that high end a cooler you will get a decent paste with it. Not worth spending $7 for a 1°C drop in temps, if that.
But that said, if you want that 1°C, Arctic Cooling MX-4 is one of the better pastes out there,

You use the existing stock backplate , and it works perfect.I have installed 2 of these.
