System Specs:

Mobo: 990FXA-UD3
CPU: FX-8350 @ stock
GPU: HD 7950
RAM: 8GB
PSU: 650 W

This is a recent problem, last two weeks or so, I've had this system for about 3 months. I'm hitting extremely high temps while gaming, 70 C, do I decided to buy Arctic Silver 5 from Newegg, and replace the original compound. I wiped away the old compound with a J-Cloth and applied the Silver using the bead method. Still no change. I reseated the heatsink to no avail.

Any ideas?

I've got the stock cooler, I've got it connected to power, and I've got speccy telling me it's spinning. Also, I can hear it spool up when it get's really hot. So I'm 90% sure it is actually spinning.

How do I know if it's seated properly? And how much is too much thermal paste? I've got about a pea sized drop on there.
