Power went out the other day and after it came back my PC wouldn't start up, it was plugged into a surge protector, (obviously that worked well..) so im scared that my whole rig is fried but im hoping maybe my PSU saved the rest of my PC, its a kingwin 850w. any help or tips would be amazing, i'm about to try switching with a 350w supply just to see if other parts are good or not. i'll keep ya guys posted.

Thanks - jake

How old is the Kingwin PSU? Under warranty still?

Your power supply says it has "SUPERIOR PROTECTION" (Over Power/Under Power/Over Voltage/Short Circuit Protections) that will rather kill your power supply to save your computer hardware. So chances are the PSU died. Just in case, check to see if the outlet is working or if any fuses have blown in your homes fuse box.

Update: the PSU was actually a 500w Munchkin. box was a kingwin, my bad. Plugged in the 350w but its a factory PSU there for was lacking the 6 hole connector to the mobo, (sorry dont know specific plug name). the PC did power up though, but did not boot because of that missing plug. so it appears that the Munchkin did blow and may have left my other parts un-hurt, but don't know for sure till i get a new PSU. thanks for the quick reply's.

btw house fuses are ok, outlet is working.

and this PSU even if under warranty i do not have the paperwork or receipts.

thanks again guys.
