DVI to Component

Recently, I found this on Frys and was wondering if it could be used to connect a component source to a DVI monitor. I'm pretty sure it would work, but I'm just checking.

No, it only works the other way round: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999903
Assuming your monitor has a vga port, you can use a component-to-vga-adapter/cable instead

Even worse! Read the feedback on Newegg. It only works with some ATI cards. DVI is a digital signal, component is an analog signal. You would need an analog to digital converter and the quality would be very bad, because component is limited to the low TV resolution and monitors are not optimized for that type of upscaling.
