DVI or HDMI

I recently got a LG 27" LED Monitor for my PC and have been using a DVI connector until I got a HMDI wire. Went connecting the HDMI I immediately noticed a difference. The best way I can explain it is that it look like my screen is cloudy. The colors are very dull compared to the DVI and it doesn't look as clear. Does this have something to do with the HDMI wire I'm using? I use a different HDMI wire to connect my PC to my Samsung TV and it looks the same way. Is the DVI just superior to a HDMI, and would using a HDMI wire even been necessary?

My graphics card is an EVGA GeForce GTX 570, and I do have all drivers up to date.

DVI is the preferred connection for me as it's for monitors primarily, just works, and HDMI has.zero advantages in quality. HDMI use is really only useful for TVs. "weird" scaling issues can happen with HDMI and some versions of HDMI are limited to lower resolutions. There should never be a QUALITY difference between HDMI and single link DVI though, they are the EXACT same signal. Pin for pin. HDMI just adds audio. So it's probably driver/ resolution issues.

First, is your monitor over 1920x1200? HDMI cannot go higher than that with some versions, so switching from Dual link DVI to HDMI could be an issue. Second are you still set to the native resolution of your panel? Being set higher/lower can look cloudy or less.sharp. Finally you might need to mess with the scaling if it's not lining up right. Finally is the color temp/contrast/brightnes settings the same between the HDMI and DVI modes on your monitor? Are they in different "modes" by default (gaming, movie, TV, night etc) this can affect it. Could also be differences in the driver settings
