Hi All,

I hope someone can help. Just decided to treat myself to a new PC after saving up for a while. I built it, turned it on an initially it got stuck on error code AE.
Then I tried unplugging drives and rebooting. I now get error 34, with one 'beep'.
So far I've tried:
Changing graphics cards (The new EVGA one shows no lights on boot, but there is a fan running).
Reseating the CPU. All pins look OK to me...
One memory module installed.
Reattaching all power connectors.
I've tried using memOK, clearing the CMOS.
It is now just set up with 1x memory module, CPU and cooler, GPU, PSU

Rig specs are:
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
EVGA GTX680 Superclocked 2048MB
Core i7-3820
Corsair Vengeance 4x8GB 1866Mhz (CMZ3GX3M4X 1866C10R).

I hope someone can help me here. Feeling really depressed right now.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Wow, thank you so much for the quick reply. Last 4 digits 3404. I will hunt around now and see what i can find.

Thanks again.

Update: Apparently 3404 supports CPU. I've raised a query with my supplier, but how would i tell if it's mobo or cpu?

That looks to be one of there newer bios on your mb. I would look to see on the mb that you have the four/eight pin pci power plug connected on the mb.also check that all the pci power plugs are connected on the video card.
Most high end cards going to have two six/eight pin power plugs.check that the right power plugs are in the right spot. New power supply's use six plus two pin cables for video power and two four pin or one eight pin cable for mb power.

Hi smiorizio,

I have connected the 4 pin, and 8 pin (about 5 times now lol!) And the same with the GPU.
Oh, I get no vga output at all, but presume this is just because mobo won't POST?

alexiou, can i just stand the mobo on my antistatic mat or do I need to stand it off somehow?

I really appreciate all these quick responses!

OK,

So I've built it outside of the case with 1x memory module, CPU and cooler, GPU, PSU (i'll add the dvd in a bit). Had tried connecting the HDD as well.
All fans spinning.
There is a red led lit on next to the large atx power connector v1_core, which is permanently lit (I believe this is the boot device light.
If I turn off the GPU lane, the red led lights up for vga_led next to it, I turn the lane back on, it goes out.
so I presume it indicates something amiss with the boot device? No other LED's are lit, so this should mean everything else is OK?
I've tried all outputs from the video card, but get nothing.
Still the same error code 34. Error code 34 in the manual is a 'CPU post memory initialisation'.
One more update. I'm basically having exactly the same problems as this link describes:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-22755.html?s=55a1f5c1eecdb1a37d9e9000a25364fe

I guess things aren't looking good.
Further update:
If I power on with just the CPU installed, i get error 62.
When I add the GPU, I get error 34, which then stays for whatever else I add.

Which monitor model are you using? 34 can be displayed when you are actually in UEFI and AE is the final BOOT code so all should be well. The 62 you are seeing in actually b2 which indicates memory training failed - makes sense as you don't have memory plugged in when it happens. Make sure the memory modules "click" in on both sides of the slots when you inster them and pay attention to using the red slots first.

I am leaning towards there being some kind of display issue with the monitor TV you are using. Either monitor or GPU is not connected properly (check seating in PCIe slot), or there is a resolution incompatibility (older monitor or TV being used).
