NAS Storage. Am I on the right track?

Hello everyone.

For obvious reasons I am buying a NAS Storage unit. Not having much experience with such solutions, I would like your feedback, and opinions.
- What it will be used for:
Storing Movies, Music in FLAC format, Torrents, TV Series, and other secondary stuff.
- What I don't need/want:
Wireless!
Speed. The faster the better right? But not really essential for what I want.

The option I am most seriously considering:
- Synology DS412+ DiskStation 4 Bay Desktop NAS Enclosure
- 4 WD Red 3TB 3.5inch SATA6 Internal Hard Drive (the 4 GB Blacks are just not worth the price)

So, what do you think? Is this a good choice? What would you recommend?

PS» It's already on my shopping basket, since I have totally ran out of space.
PPS» The really important storage (Work/Personal/Unreplaceable) is already being stored in a 3TB ioSafe Solo G3.

Thanks for your attention, and please do reply.

Solution
Yeah, I've been noticing that these units all have huge drawbacks, and major reliability issues.
I have enough lying around to build my own NASes, and have some Mini ATX enclosures.
Guess I'll be going FreeNAS.
Thank you all for your responses, and advice.

Cheers.

I would personally recommend one of these: QNAP TS-419P II, there have been some horror stories involving the Synology DS412+, with constant firmware reflashing to restore services and inability to handle large amounts of file transfer by dropping connections and needing reboots.

Thanks for the reply.
So, is the software the only issue, and is it universal?
I've looked over the QNAP TS-419P II, and the Synology looks far superior. Better connectivity, processor, and cooling.
I was also looking at a Thecus (4800 I think), but can't find it on sale anywhere. Think the ECO's probably replaced the previous models.
The Drobo is far too loud, unreliable, and the horror stories are even worst.
Can you give me some links to bad reviews, or problems with these solutions?
Also will I need a switch, or do the units include one.
Thank you.

The new one looks really cool. How have you found the ReadyNAS OS performance?

Have a look at the 3 star and 1 star reviews there, I've had similar issues with some Lacie units and its pretty annoying.
