Corsair vengeance 4GB 1600FSB is working at 1333MHz in default, Bith cpu and mobo are of 1600FSB

I have i5 3550 and motherboard intel DB75EN. Both have 1600FSB. Now I have bought a corsair vengeance 4GB 1600MHz ram. but at default it is running at 1333MHz. When I am going to overclock it ther has 3 options. 1.automatic, 2.Manual. 4.XMP 1600 Profile1

I have selected XMP 1600 Profile1 and running at 1600MHz fine. but why its going like this. CPU,Mobo & RAM all are of 1600MHz FSB then why RAM is running at 1333MHz at default?

it usually does that so that it can safely boot, i installed ram yesterday and went straight to bios and switched to 1600mhz.

I have googled and saw that corsair vengeance is for sandy bridge and in sandy bridge 1333MHz is maximum. So they provide XMp profile. Is this true?? And by using that XMP profile is the ram working at overclock?? and is this good??

if the ram you bought is advertised as 1600mhz then the ram is working at normal speed, 1333 is a underclock.

Why it will be under clocked?? Where cpu,motherboard all supports 1600MHz??

to be safe, most ram can run at 1333 but not 1600 safely so its only fair that the mobo can atleast boot if someone put 1333 ram in there. it is always advised to go in bios and check you have the right amount of ram visible and at the right frequency.

One thing I have to know. That is everywhere it is showing that my ram's fsb is 1333MHz but I have overclocked it by using XMP profile. Why?

And is all the rams works at 1333MHz in default and then we have to use it's XMP profiles??
