On recommendation from some of the experts here at Toms I have recently purchased a XFX R7770 Core Edition and a XFX Pro 450W PSU.

I have N68C-s UCC motherboard and swapped out a GF GT220 for this newer R7770 - but cant for the life of me get it to work.

This card will not appear in Device Manager, will not allow me to install drivers from CD or from AMD itself. Auto select function tells me that it is unable to find product or OS. When I download the Catalyst Control Center it seems to be missing the options for managing the GPU. I have used a driver sweeping application, disabled the on-board graphics - through BIOS and disabled it in device manager.

The fan spins on R7770 but no signal is given through the HDMI (I expect this because no drivers are installed), so I have to connect VGA cable to motherboard connector which works, so I don't think the on-board graphics can actually be disabled if the display is working through that connection. Although I dont think that this should really matter as this worked fine with my old card, but its the only thing I can think of?

Unfortunately I dont have access to another computer to try and install the card there but does sound as if its working as fan is spinning.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The 6-pin connector is connected, the fan is spinning. I only have 1 PCIE slot but unsure which version it is. Im guessing I will need an alternative PC if I am to truly find out if this is faulty hardware?

Have yu connected the 6pin pcie power cord to the card? If so then I guess its a faulty card, should RMA.
Also make sure You got a PCIE 1.1 or above slot in motherboard for the card and the card is compatible, Thanks

Yes that seems the right thing to do before RMA, Thanks

I have finally been able to test the card in another computer and it works. Im sure that this part is supposed to be compatible with my mobo. Do you have any ideas? Or am I gonna need a new mobo?

I have updated Bios by downloading the instant flash file from the asrock site. Will I need the windows download as well or should the instant flash file contain all previous updates?
