On recommendation from some of the experts here at Toms I have recently purchased a XFX R7770 Core Edition and a XFX Pro 450W PSU.
I have N68C-s UCC motherboard and swapped out a GF GT220 for this newer R7770 - but cant for the life of me get it to work.
This card will not appear in Device Manager, will not allow me to install drivers from CD or from AMD itself. Auto select function tells me that it is unable to find product or OS. When I download the Catalyst Control Center it seems to be missing the options for managing the GPU. I have used a driver sweeping application, disabled the on-board graphics - through BIOS and disabled it in device manager.
The fan spins on R7770 but no signal is given through the HDMI (I expect this because no drivers are installed), so I have to connect VGA cable to motherboard connector which works, so I don't think the on-board graphics can actually be disabled if the display is working through that connection. Although I dont think that this should really matter as this worked fine with my old card, but its the only thing I can think of?
Unfortunately I dont have access to another computer to try and install the card there but does sound as if its working as fan is spinning.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
