Want to upgrade XFX GTX 285 1Gb

Hi i currantly have a XFX GTX 285 1Gb black edition but want to upgrade is it is not directx 11 compatible. The card has never let me down and is pretty fast , but really want to upgrade, just wondered what would be a good one budget is around £200 , also what price would i get for my XFX GTX 285 1Gb black edition ? thanks

EDIT-Sorry my bad I guess you meant you wanted the dx11 support.

In that case a hd7850/hd7870/hd7870 xt would be a good upgrade/ or even a gtx660 if you want to go along nvidia.
What are the specs for the rest of your system as in motherboard, cpu, ram and psu?

doubt you can get that much for an old gpu like the gtx285 probably below $100

Bare minimum to keep a similar DX9 level of performance, you're looking at a 650Ti or 7770 (perhaps 7790).
Either will be a large upgrade for newer dx11 or shader-heavy games.

And look to go a couple steps up. (650 ti boost and 7790 missing from that though)
You'll also likely to want to look towards 2GB of ram and not the bottom-end 1GB models.

You probably wont get much for a used 285 - they're old power hogs and not that useful for bitcoin mining, the last couple 275s I bought were in the $50-$75 range 1/2 a year ago.

a hd7850 or a gtx660 would be fine upgrade for that system. Don't bother spending more for a hd7870 xt/hd7950 since bottleneck would be an issue.

Also for reference, changed my SLI GTX 275 machine to 660Ti.
Forgot to save the URLs, but recorded the results in a spreadsheet.

3DMark Vantage GPU Score (Performance setting):
Single GTX 275: 9684
SLI 2x GTX 275: 19001
Single GTX 660 Ti: 26984
SLI 2x GTX 660 Ti: 40273

A Single 660Ti should be double the performance of a GTX285 in modern games.

Not that much the gtx 660 is identical to it but not by much there is a 10 fps difference and since you can get a gtx 660 for 180 bucks it is better off to get the 660

thanks for all the replies made some good reading , what if i were to upgrade cpu what would be good choice mobo is XFX Nforce 680i LT and cpu is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz thanks

I wouldn't really bother upgrading cpu on that motherboard gaming wise a q6600 and q9650 wouldn't be much different. The only way you can upgrade to a noticeably better cpu is by changing the cpu motherboard combo. A z77 motherboard and an i5 3570k would give you a huge boost. But a h71/b75 motherboard with a i5 3450/3470/3550 would be decent upgrade as well for about ($50+170)
