Yes ofcourse why not? You can install HD7970 or HD7950 on ASUS M5A78L-M LX V2 theres a blue PCIe 2.0 x16 slot where the card will fitin. Any PCIE 3.0 Card is bacwards compatible hence you will not loose performance with the PCIE2.0 slot in your motherboard. Thanks
