I am planning to update the BIOS of my acer laptop how can I do it can anyone help me out with some steps please.
My laptop is Acer Aspire 4750z and the version on BIOS I have is v1.23.

Hi There,

Well with a quick google, I was able to find the following :

http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers

You can see the most up to date bios here. However, I would advise against upgrading the bios, unless there is specifically something wrong!? Is there a reason why you want to upgrade the bios? For the most part it always advised, ' if it aint broke, don't try and fix it' .

Bios upgrades fix minor compatibility issues for memory, GFX, motherboard issues etc. If you are not experiencing any issues, I would suggest leaving it. I had an Acer Aspire laptop sometime ago, and upgraded the bios only to brick the machine, ending with having to send it to a third party to have it fixed by Acer. Not trying to scaremonger, just my own experience with it. Bios upgrades can be a really good thing, but can easily turn into a nightmare, if your not sure what to do.
Anyway, on the site I've mentioned above, you will find instructions on how to upgrade the bios too. Make sure to read all instructions, and be clear about what you are doing before you attempt the upgrade.

Actually I have problem with my system, it is showing the message saying "BOOTMGR is missing Press CTRL+ALT +DEL to restart" I have tried to google the solution for it and found that most of the experts asking to install the windows DVD and try to get to the boot option and before installing the windows I have to click repair option. But my case the boot option is not displaying so I thought I will try to update the BIOS of my laptop. I have even tried to restore the system using the F8 key but the restore menu is also not displaying. So after all this long way I thought that I will update the BIOS of my laptop. Do you think this problem have better solution than that, if so please let me know.

This has absolutely nothing to do with BIOS, other than you need to press the correct key during POST to get into BIOS to change the boot order. There may also be a key that will show a boot options menu where you can choose the device to boot.

Yes it is F2 key to get in to the boot set up option of my system and I have tried it for more than 100 times but it did not give me an boot menu for me to repair the system. Do you have any better solution please. I would me more thankful to you.

Okay, so there's an underlying problem. Check the following. It will give you some ideas on next steps to take. You can rebuild the bootmgr using a program, or by following the instructions in the links below.

hope these are of some help. I recently had an issue with Win Vista doing same thing. Then I installed Win 7 and it was sorted.

EDIT: If you have your original Win Disk, you could try and boot from that, and selecting start up repair (just follow the windows setup, step by step, and you will see an option for Start up repair). this may negate anything else that might need to be done. It may not fix it, but it might too!
