Had recent screen flicker and cpu frequency spike, is this related to ram? My graphics card is new and a replacement for the previous faulty one. I'm sure that's fine. The distortions and flickers don't particularly appear as if it's a graphics issue. Worth noting I used the ram in my old rig, xms3 corsair 4 x 2gb, I did overclock it once but stopped that. Also noticed the modules get very hot.

A good thing to do is download and run Memtest86 and this will run some tests on your ram to determine if there is anything wrong with them. If you ram is getting hot then you should check out the MB bios to make sure that the settings are normal and it may be a good idea to make sure you have good air flow in your computer. If you have been running the computer for some time then a good cleaning of the filters and fans should improve air flow also you should have three to four fans in the case to have good air flow. You can also add a ram cooling fan that can be placed directly over the ram sticks.
