I have a system built a couple years ago which I used ASRock P67 EXTREME6 (B3) motherboard with I5 2500K, the videocard I have is XFX 4850 1GB. Since I don't really play game nowadays and the card draws quite alot of power, I am thinking of take out the 4850 and use the HD 3000 which was built in with I5 2500k. My question is how do I do that? I checked the specs of my motherboard, it doesn't have any VGA or HDMI port. Do I have to get a different motherboard in order to do that? Thanks.

You'd have to buy a new mobo sadly, as p67 boards don't support the use of the igpu.

If you plan on overclocking and using the igpu a z7* board would be what you want which are the successors to z68s.
Otherwise if you just want the igpu and you never plan on overclocking any h6*, h7* or b7* board will do, though I wouldn't recommend buying a non-z board because otherwise you may as well not have bought the k version of the cpu (disregarding the slightly more powerful gpu).

In short, buy a cheapish z77 or z75 board :p

thanks for the reply, I think it's better off for me to buy another low end graphics card that uses less power. In terms of overclocking the I5 2500k, my motherboard is capable of doing that, right?

thanks for the reply, that is what I was thinking(getting a low end graphics card) in case the motherboard doesn't support the built in video card with the I5 2500K. The sapphire 5450 seems pretty good, what do you think of this one? if's also 5450, but from XFX

Either one are fine.

XFX is a division of Pine Technologies, a major OEM (original equipment manufacture) who designs products sold under the XFX brand name and also make products that are sold by other brand names.

Sapphire is a division of PC Partners. It is also a major OEM player and a direct competitor to Pine Technologies.
