So I was originally shown a build like this one based on around a $1000 budget…

But since I’m a video editor/graphic designer, using mostly the Adobe suite, and I know the hyperthreading that the i7 can do helps a lot and I have more money back from taxes, I made this build…

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QJb6

I also switched to Win 7 Pro so I can take advantage of more ram in the future.

Also, I will be using my old case, a LIAN LI Lancool PC-K58 ATX Mid Tower, my old power supply, a Rosewill Green Series RG530-S12 530W, and my dvd drive.

So I have a couple questions. Is this build good for what I want? Will it all fit in my case? (mainly worried about the 7950) Is there a way to get more ram for this system for not a huge increase? Like 16 gb in two slots so I can upgrade to 32 at some point? Will all these parts play nicely together?

Any other thoughts, comments or concerns?

My budget = $1300 absolute max.

I won’t be crossfiring at this point, but I’d like the option in the future. Will def mess with OC’ing though.

Thanks for your time!

Will my 530w power supply work with this? The part picker says that this build will only be 350w, so i figured i would be ok, but tiny voices says otherwise. I just want to be sure...

Alright, i will def buy a new one if i run into problems. Thank you all for your help. I had completely forgot about the CUDA core thing with Nvidia. I use a iMac at work so i don't even think about these things

Alright, thank you again guys for all of your help with this. i originally had the mindset to make this a mid level gaming rig, but then i realized i would need to upgrade it anyways for video editing in the future, so i figured i would just do it now while i have the money. Thanks again and cheers!

That is total SYSTEM power not just the GPU. And even then that is just fine for a 530W rosewill.

YES! Your rosewill be fine, http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/asus_geforce_gtx_660_ti_directcu_top_review,7.html

Our test system is based on a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 system. This setup is overclocked to 3.75 GHz. Next to that we have energy saving functions disabled for this motherboard and processor (to ensure consistent benchmark results). On average we are using roughly 50 to 100 Watts more than a standard PC due to higher CPU clock settings, water-cooling, additional cold cathode lights etc.

Measured power consumption

System in IDLE = 140 W
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 263 W
Difference (GPU load) = 123 W
Add average IDLE wattage ~10 W
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 133 Watts

Here is Guru3Ds power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 660 Ti - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450~500 Watt power supply unit.
GeForce GTX 660 Ti SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

Of course a higher power and better quality PSU is going to be prefferable, but please make no mistake, your rosewill will work with that build.

Alright thx lycros. I will hold off on the PSU for now cause i need to save the money. If it becomes an issue or i want to crossfire in the future, i will look into a new one. Appreciate the help and clarification!
