My old computer, running on windows 7 went bad because of a power issue. I decided to up grade and am now running a new computer on windows 8. I pulled the original hard drive out of the old computer because it had some pics and music etc that I want to save. I put the old hard drive in a hard drive enclosure and connected it via usb. I can see the drive, I can write to the free space on it and see and use the new files and by using properties I can see that a large amount of space on the drive is used so I know my old data is there but I can not see any of the files or access any of the used space. There are no problems with the drive. I am sure that if I reformat it I will be able to use all the space on it but the point was to reclaim the data. I have tried going into properties and allowing access on the security setting but it changes nothing. This was the boot up drive on my old computer and you needed a password to get to the windows 7 home page but I can see no way to enter a password. Can someone tell me how I can unlock the files on my old hard drive so I can access the data? Thanks for any and all help.
