I have some 95 cd-rom games (32-bit) that won't install on Windows 7. It tells me: 64-bit incompatibility; and to see if I can get a 64-bit COMPATIBLE version from the software vendor. The Game is Mercenary 2.

I tried using the Compatibility feature on my system, by selecting windows 95 option, but it still will not install. Do I have GAME DRIVER issues also?

My windows 95 Jane's Figher Anthology runs, but has crappy video graphics.

Thanks for any help!

32bit games actually work fine in a 64bit OS; probably 95% of modern games still have 32bit executables. The problem is that most 95-era games still come with 16bit installers, and those do NOT work in a 64-bit environment.

You have several options available, with a virtual machine probably being the most reliable. If you can somehow get hold of a Win95/98 installation disk, you can run it inside VirtualBox or something similar.

Another (far easier) option is to check out GOG.com for re-releases of any old games you may want to play. They have all been optimized to work in modern versions of Windows. You may have to pay for them again but you also get lots of goodies such as manuals, music and behind-the-scenes extras, so it's well worth it.
