For just the one 1080p display i'd say
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-r...

i5/H77 or B75 if stock i5 K/ Z77 if OCing
HD 7970 GHZ
550-650 W 80+ bronze PSU
1TB mechanical SATA drive
90-128 GB SATA III SSD (optional)
8GB DDR3 RAM
choice of casing (you can also opt for a compact mATX config)
23" or bigger LCD Monitor
64 bit OS W7 or W8 your call

basic components

As far as high end GPUs go the HD 7970 and it's variants are the only cards Toms actually place as best buy for it's price range, anything else only deserves "honorary mention"

A no frills/stock i5/7970 ghz config should be around $1k USD only tower no OS/LCD

i include Laser Mouse and Mechanical Keyboard in purpose, i assume you already have a reagular one, but gaming will be better and responsive with laser and mechanical. it is like a Swiss army for games
