Hi,

I have recently bought and installed an FX 6300 processor, however when all 6 cores are on my computer constantly restarts or gives a blue screen.

(A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor)

I am using an M5A78L-M LX motherboard, and according to the site it should support the new cpu http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A78LM_LX/#CPUS

My BIOS is up to date (1502 version)

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I cannot find an option in the bios to increase the vcore, only in hardware monitor, which gives the options 1.200 and Ignore :/

No, i had to reset them to default and disable cores 5&6 to get it to work.
All iv done is update the bios to the most recent version

Yup.

Assuming (most likely, correctly) that you need a volt bump. The 760G/SB710 chipset has some age on it, and does not have modern power delivery as seen on newer chipsets.

If the volt-bump works, you may likely lock it in under the preference section.

A boat load (highly technical term).

The choices may be limited under the OPs chipset, however

I tried increasing the voltage through amd overclock, however it keeps resetting to default when i restart and activate the other 2 cores.

If its a problem with the chipset, does that mean i need a new motherboard?
if so can you suggest one? around £40-£60?

Well, iv had my current board for over 2 years now, if the upgrade doesnt work i'll try and get a refund/replacement on the processor.

Assuming you 'locked-in' the preferences apparently the Asus BIOS will not make them stick.

Being that Asus says the CPU will run on their motherboard, I would recommend joining their forum, and possibly starting a support ticket.

i hav'nt attempted to overclock my new cpu, i did use the turbo boost feature on my old one, FX-4100 if that helps any,
I'v ordered a new motherboard, if it doesnt work i'll put it down to a faulty cpu and get a replacement/refund.
