Morning,

I have a video interface device (it's a proprietary third party video interface) that is powered over its Cat6 connection. Sometimes the box needs to have power cycled to reset it because it hangs. Not a big deal for us techs, we know where to go to unplug it, but I want to the users to be able to reset it so things aren't held up waiting for one of us.

Is there such a thing as an inline device with an On/Off switch that would cycle power? Like a surge protector or something? Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Wes

@nbelote I'm trying to minimize how far into the system they have to go. If I can attached a power switch of some sorts to a wall that is a lot safer than having them dig around in the system to unplug the cable. This is in a cardiac cath lab, so I need to make it as quick and easy as possible.

@dragox Perhaps my Google Fu is week, but "fencing strip" returns a lot of information on fencing and lawn edging products. I did manage to dig up some articles on what fencing refers to (not a server type, had never heard of it) and most of what I could find looks like a software based solution that runs on some sort of fence server. Do you have a specific manufacture/model that you are referencing?

Thanks for the ideas and info so far, I do appreciate it!
