So i posted before about my pulsating CPU fan, you guys are probably getting sick of me. I re positioned it (it has stopped) now my cpu is hotter than before, like 57c under load and it was previously like 52-54c i know its not a lot of change but i seems a little high. I used better thermal paste... i used MX-4, where my heatsink just had the previous stock crap on i used the dot method, i have the AMD fx4100, any advice? btw i dont think i put too much or to little on.

Thanks for any help in advance

when did your temperatures raise you do know it's getting hotter the ambient temp is rising and what about your fans are they running at a slower rpm?

I'm not sure why this is, but CPUs often run a tad hotter when you put your own paste on. 57C under load is an alright temp, as long as you keep it under 70C you'll be fine. About the fan, if you want to get your fan speed down just buy a better heatsink, they're like $30 I'd recommend the Hyper 212 Newegg.com

they rose when i put the new thermal paste, its pretty much more or less the same temp in my room because the window is wide open and its windy as shit right now, and my cpu fan is going the same speed

Don't know mate i assume you just have to wait for the thermal paste to spread out leave it a day or 2 that's all i got sorry.

yeah i was thinking maybe it will take a week or so because the heat should spread the thermal paste more i hope! If not ill re apply the thermal paste pfft..

i dont know the background story but i had a similar issue previously. i've tried everything just like you did applying better paste, changing the push-pull configurations, changings fans totally etc...

in the end all i needed to do is to tighten the screws a bit more after a fresh application of thermal paste. voila! my temps dropped like 10C lol i got lucky i would never thought of it cause you know if you tighten the screws too much you might actually break or crack the mobo :)

by the way, i was using a hyper 212 evo on a i7-860...

clips are far worse than screws lol they even apply unbalanced pressure. this is actually why stock fans are bad for cooling

i dont have the stock fan although i do heave a really cheap one, the reason i dont want to reapply the thermal paste is because it was a bitch to get back on :(

You probably flattened the clip a tiny bit while prying it off. If you take the clip off again then try to bend the clips up from the creased angles a little bit so it will increase tension. The more you play with the clips the weaker their tension becomes unless you bend them a little bit.
