Headphone has built-in microphone but it isn't working.

Hey, I built a new PC recently without a sound card as I assumed that the motherboard I bought had decent in built sound (Which it does) The sound in my headphones (Which is a Razer Kraken) works fine, but the attached microphone does not If I try and use it with Skype, it says can't detect your sound card, but if I change the settings in Realtek to see it my headphones as headphones in stead of speakers, that does not appear but the microphone still does not work. I'm sorry if I've made an obviously stupid mistake, I'm new to this stuff.

More about headphone built microphone working
  1. First step: right click on the volume icon in taskbar or goto control panel / sound / recording devices and make sure, the mic is selected as the default device. Second step: male sure it is not muted in the realtec mixer

The headphones have a in built microphone attached, there is no extra plug but the 1 plug is plugged into the front panel.
  5. That's not going to work with a PC! You need to use the Splitter-Adapter that came with the headphone. The combined plug only works with mobile phones.

Thanks for telling me! I'll order one tonight.

Yes. You didn't get one with the headset? The adapter should have been in the box.

Hey, I bought a mic/audio splitter and it still doesn't work. Under recording devices it says front mic-enabled but it's not working. Please help D:
  10. So the front mic is set as the standard recording device? Do you see the bars next to it moving, when you speak? Or is it muted in the realtek mixer?
