I recently acquired a Linksys RE1000 Range Extender from a friend of mine to use for the time being, in order to extend the range of the network that I use at home. I reside upstairs and the wireless modem is located downstairs, and on average I'm only getting between 3 and 4 bars of signal. I do live in an older home, which could be the cause of the diminished signal, but when I attempt to locate the network either via the included Linksys CD or manually, it doesn't appear. As I've noted, I have tried to manually configure the expander to the network, but the network isn't visible for some reason. Could there be a setting in the 192.168.0.1 configuration menu that is preventing me from seeing the network to associate the bridge? Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Both the IP range and the Subnet must be set to the same as the networked computers. 192.168.0.1 is typically the IP address of your main router, and in bridge mode, you will need to use another IP Address (i.e. 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.10), and you need to flag the IP address you are using for the bridge not to be in the active pool that the computers are using - as two devices can't use the same IP address.
