So I've decided to dive into building my first gaming PC.

I started at ground zero with no prior knowledge of current hardware. After about a month or research this is the build I have come up with given my desired performance and budget.

After picking my parts I have purchased a number of these items and quite a few cheaper than what I have listed below. (since then quite a few prices have jumped or no longer offer the rebates.)

So far I have purchased the case, RAM, PSU, optical drive, keyboard, operating system and SSD (actually got a 160gb for $90 after rebate but no longer in stock.)

I know I still have quite a ways to go but now that I am starting to buy the more expensive hardware I would really appreciate any feedback you guys have to offer.

Really excited, never had a computer anywhere near this nice.

Thanks in advance!

Use saved money into a better gpu. Try grabbing the Radeon HD 7950, otherwise grab the 7870 XT. AMD cards provide better performance for your money.
Sucks that you bought the psu already, since you could grab a cheaper, better quality one.

thanks for the input.

luckily i was able to get the keyboard for $80 and the PSU only came to $90 after rebates.

so I hope they are OK at that price.

Ill probably go with the HDD and mobo you suggested though!

Yeah, I sort of set my ideal build and just hunt daily for them to drop down.

I'd like to try crysis 3, bioshock, counter strike etc. I'd like to be able to try everything really.
