never overclocked anything before. i seen something about doing it with the manufacturers BIOs application?
i have a phenom IIx6 1035T, i wanted to upgrade to a phenom IIx6 1100.

However i figured it would just be better to overclock since the hassle is big and the gain is minimal.

I don't want to buy a new mobo. i have a m4n75td. It's Just a real headache to find a case to put it in, not getting shorts in the case and finding them. it would take many frustrating hours. The max i can get is a phenom 2 x6 core class CPU. i'm running battlefield 3 and got a new GTX 660 TI card along with a 750w corsair power supply.

I think i'm getting bottlenecking because the framerate jumps around a bit. 58 - 100

i seen some benchmarks for crysis 2 at 1028 x 768 resolution, and the max fps the core i7 got was 128 frames. my chipset was 100.

so i guess the question is, is it my CPU that's bottlenecking? or is am i just using the wrong graphic settings? i haven't tweaked the graphics settings too much yet. it's not maxed out. it's on medium mostly. 1(024x 768)

i have a feeling it may be the caches on the chip that contributing to the framrate jumps. hoping someone could fill me in if overclocking would even work? thanks.

your monitor runs at 60 Hz , which is 60 FPS

Anytime your computer is telling you you are getting more than 60FPS you are not
getting that displayed on the screen

well my monitor isn't top of the line. it's really a rather generic 11 inch monitor. energy saver. not old. bought 2 years ago. should i upgrade my monitor? i'm leaning on toward upgrading my processor to the highest it can go. ( phenom2 x6 1100T ) the benchmarks are higher, but i don't want to run into the same problem. so i guess i'm still back at square one. EDIT: is refresh rate when the fps jumps? so am i getting good fps afterall? should i use vertical sync?i left it off thinking it would slow my FPS. i really don't know much about the technical details.

The refresh rate is the maximum number of times the image on the screen can change

Measured in Hz which = fps

i'm not that good with technical details. does that mean i should get a new monitor? the max this monitor runs at max 60hz. what is the max the best monitor would run at? 80hz +? i think i will get a new monitor then. so it's not the cpu i gather.

You do not have any problem of any kind , and dont need a new processor ,or to overclock, if you are already getting 60 - 100 fps

A new monitor is also not needed , unless you want a larger one
