Hi Everyone,

I have never built a speaker system before and I'm wondering kind of components are needed. For my speaker system I want 2 woofers, 2 tweeters and 1 sub woofer. Besides these parts what other components will I need to build a fully functioning speaker system I can connect to my computer/Phone

Thanks

Solution
Crossover to separate out the sound by frequency to the speakers that can handle it (no bass to the tweeters etc), some kind of amp to bring the signal from a phone / PC to audible levels and provide volume control. An extremely rigid case (stronger the cleaner the sound) and acoustic cloth / foam for the internals of the speaker to help dampen resonation.

It can be a complicated process (and expensive!) to get right, but an immensely satisfying project to do yourself.

Building a speaker can be very easy to really complex. A simple system would be a just an amp and a driver, no crossover needed. You can add a baffle then maybe a box made out of card board and listen to how that works. Then just go from there.

Here is a link for a site for info on how to build speakers from simple to complex:http://www.diyaudio.com/

Happy listening, the Prisoner...
