Hello and welcome :)

I have been experiencing framerate drops at intense gaming scenes and have done a bit of research and tweaks, and it seems to me that A LOT of games simply do not have the appropriate engine to support my high performance settings optimally. New monitor or simply a true HDMI cable?? Uninformed.

I had one last option in mind, and that was to upgrade my monitor or cable. See specs below and I respect your advice for any improvement.

windows 7 home premium 64bit
intel i7-3770k@3.9GHz /w hyper 212evo heatsink
intel dzzre75-k extreme mobo
intel patriot 16gb ram
evga nvidia geforce gtx 680 2gb
coolermaster gx 750w (bronze)
samsung 120gb ssd (windows, C:/)
wd cavier black 1tb hd (E:/)
coolermaster haf932advanced all fans running

LG FlatronW2252TQ 22" (60 hz, 10000:1)
razer lycosa, cyborg rat 7, sennheiser pc363d

NVIDIA 314.22 at 1680x1050 (60hz) (32bit color) with DVI cable

Did I miss anything?

I run Borderlands2, Diablo3, Assassins Creed3, and even older games like Enemy Territory: Quake Wars ... all have average 60fps, but drop consistently at high graphical generating scenes (i.e. lots of explosions and multiplayer). I've seen my FPS drop down to single digits on Borderlands and Diablo =/ All games are running highest video properties, but with my specs, I shouldn't have any fps lag. I have tried tweaking VYSNC, AA, etc, but I don't believe in sacrificing my hard earned money for a performance gaming system that won't run games where I want them to.

Any FACTUAL , experienced insight will be well respected and you have my gratification. Any further questions you may contact me via e-mail or skype/steam.

Thank you for your time.

Borderlands 2 has somewhat "idiotic" coding or something, my fps fell from 60-90 stable to 15fps and GPU usage dropped to 10%, no idea why

just take vsync off, and try that way.

with that pc you could run almost every game maxed @ 1900x1200 res with a good fps, check your GPU usage while gaming.

also my processor core reads 1.240-1.280w based on Intel Desktop Utilites. I heard this is way too high, so I just now set it to stay at 1.2W. Is this going to cause any chaos? Thanks

Are you sure a new monitor or HDMI cable won't help? I will check my evga precision gpu tool and see what it says

You should not have any problems with using DVI out and switching to HDMI will not make any difference since it is basically the same signal with the exception of no audio with DVI.

I would check to see if you have any background task's that might be eating CPU time. With that low of resolution on that system you should be getting better performance than that that is for sure.

I have been told that hypertheading does not help in gaming and can even hurt. But since my i5 3570K rig is the first intel build I have done in years I can't really say for sure. A friend of mine said he got better gaming by turning it off in the BIOS on his i7 rig. All I can really tell you on that is I run Borderlands 2 on my i5 3570K SLI GTX 670 at 5760x1080(3x 27" monitors) max 60fps no drops. Sorry I know that is not much help but check your background task.

I run all my games at HIGHEST graphic settings.

Temps are terrific, do not exceed 50 celcius even after 18 hours of gaming.

HSF seems to be seated just fine, I don't know how you could not seat it properly. Are you guys even gamers?

As I mentioned, A LOT of games engines aren't quite up to par with the new display technologies hence not delivering your hardwares full potential. Several gaming companies have admitted this including Blizzard and iD, GGG...

I am pretty sure its nothing on my hardware end , just making 100% sure that theres nothing more I can do to run my games on maxed settings like gliding on ice.

Bottlenecking? My system should blow brand new games out of the water even at max in-game video settings.

As far as background tasks - negative. See screenshots.

OC'ing CPU or GPU? Proper voltage to my 16gb intel patriot memory? My memory voltage is at 0.760
