Based on Intel Desktop Utilites, my processors voltage is anywhere between 1.240 and 1.280, and I'm not even running any games. I heard this is way too high, why is the default doing that? Should I change it? I don't want to run stress test because I don't overclock and I only play games. CPU usage on desktop is 13%.

intel i7-3770k 3.9ghz /w hyper 212 evo (temps are fine, btw, 45-50 celcius)
intel dz77re-75k extreme mobo
intel patriot 16gb ram
evga nvidia gtx 680 2gb
coolermaster gx 750w bronze
120gb ssd
1tb hd
coolermaster haf932advanced 4xblue led fans

razer lycosa keyboard, cyborg rat 7, sennheiser pc363d

yes, everything is up to date. Any insighth here guys?

default is doing that to insure that it'll never crash on you if it's too low voltage... Every CPU is different, you'll notice if you OC your CPU but since you dont, put your Vcore around 1.1v-1.05V and test it under load for few mins, if it's stable for that few mins(like 5 or 10 minutes), just leave there...

You may not want to run stress tests, but you'll have to so that you can check your load temps and stability. You can try manually dropping the voltage, and then running some stress tests. Intel Burn Test tends to find stability issues the quickest.

Are those temps at idle? If so, that's too high.

And are you sure all of your bios CPU settings are at stock settings?
