I currently have an EVGA gtx 660ti that I use for gaming & general use, plugged into 2 screens. I have just purchased and installed an MSI 7950 OC for ltc/btc mining, however I am having some problems with it....

The fan is FAR too loud, I am fairly confident with MSI afterburner, and thought I could change the fan profile to get rid of this problem & to overclock it a bit, however afterburner does not appear to let me change any of the settings on the card...

anyone have any ideas how I can solve this?

Wait do you have both your 660TI and the HD 7950 in your rig?

Yep, the 660 ti is the only one plugged into screens, as the 7950 will be exclusively used for mining

You'll most likely have driver clashes, are you sure what you're doing is compatible? I'm not very experienced with mining. Anyways, I can explain the noise. When a GPU doesn't have a driver to properly load into, it'll automatically got to 50% fan speed, which especially prevalent in TFIII and TFIV (Which is overglorified and not that great of a cooler imo) is VERY loud.

I have a 7950 and MSI afterburner works fine for me. I have used it to set my an profile as it runs hotter than normal with 3 monitors so i wanted to set it a litte higher to stop it just heating up.

Id agree JJ1217, most likely driver issues.

Dont know what to suggest unless you can stick it in another computer to btc mine.

Yep, there are quite a few people in the mining community who have successfully used two different cards, albeit I assume most of them are running unix systems

Managed to solve the problem myself!

The card appears to disable the driver when there is no screen plugged into it, all options are available when a second screen is plugged in
