i have intel graphics accelerator for windows vista (R) on windows 7 and when i update it it says it is up to date. many a times the screen goes black, returns and a message pops out-intel graphics accelerator for windows vista (R) stopped responding and has recovered. sometimes a blue screen comes and pc turns off. is it safe to disable the driver? will i still get the display?

If your system is using an Intel Graphics Media Decelerator, those are old chipset IGPs and are old enough that I'd wonder if they still work. What motherboard do you have? Unless the capacitors are all solid (unlikely on a cheap old board), look it over carefully for any that are leaking or swollen. Google "bad capacitors" for images.
Please provide full specs of your system, including the brand and model (not just wattage) of your PSU for the most relevant and useful responses.

If your monitor is plugged into the motherboard, not a separate discrete video card, disabling the Intel graphics will probably cause it to appear as a standard VGA display adapter, and it will perform even slower. If it is the only graphics device in your system, I don't believe it will be shut off.

What you really want to ask is "how to fix my issue", not how to disable the video adapter. Do not do the regular windows update for the video card, go to the PC vendor's support page and get the update there. You should also check for a BIOS update.
