Hi All,

I have a 128Gb SSD boot drive (Originally C: ) and a 750 Gb Data HDD (Originally D: ) after some weirdness (possible faulty SSD) I did a system restore on the SSD. When I went again to move my users directory to the HDD as I originally had done, I notice within command line, it is showing the HDD as the C Drive, and SSD as my D: drive... however when I look withing windows, it shows drive C & D correctly. (You can tell by the size difference)

I did notice when I go into command line I am seeing x:/ as the active location when it first comes up.

What should I do to correct this?... fresh restore, change drive letters via command line? Any assistance would be appreciated!

Same results... when I change to C: - and run dir /p - it is actually my original D drive (data HDD ) , if I try D: and type dir /p - it shows my SSD boot drive.

But as mentioned, if I look at computer via Windows 8... it shows C; as SSD, and D: as HDD - as originally configured.

This took effect AFTER i performed a system reset. Somehow windows changed the drive within its software but must somehow map it correctly in windows.

Any suggestions? I want to get back to original factory config.

I found an answer! At least a partial one anyway. I assumed when you went to command prompt via windows when the only account was an admin would be safe. Nope! You need to enter the command line as "Elevated" (i.e. an admin) - if you hit Windows Key + W you will see a list of options on lower left, you have Command Line, AND Command Line (As Admin)

Once I logged in with the As Admin version and ran the same commands... drives showed up properly.

Don't know... but I was able to do what I needed. Hope this helps someone in the future!
