Hello!
First post here, didn't find exactly what I was searching for so here I go:
I have two AMD 6790 cards on a Gigabyte 990FX-UD7 board, and I seek to upgrade the graphics now.
I want PhysX this time. So I am considering getting maybe a GTX660 TI and a cheap, lesser card like the 630 for dedicated PhysX, if possible (or even needed)
But if this causes more microstuttering than having a single card that does both, I'd rather have that. (perhaps a 680?)
I'd also like the ability to SLI the 630 with the 660TI or 680. I've never owned a Nvidia card (except the old 9800GT), so I really have no idea about what cards can SLI. This Gigabyte mobo supports both SLI and Crossfire.I know most models from AMD require a very closely related cards, architechture-wise to do CrossFire, and the charts to figure this out is buried deep in the site.
Questions: (I really like the PhysX games that are available, so please don't tell me about how few there are hehe
- The mobo is PCIE 2.0. So does that mean I cannot have a Nvidia card that does both PhysX and 3D on the same card? (Someone said you needed PCI3.0 for this)
TL;DR:
What is good for PhysX?
1. 660Ti for 3D + 630 for PhysX but can be SLI if I want.
2. Single 680 that does both at the same time
3. 660Ti or 680 with something other (SLI compatible) than 630 for PhysX so I can SLI them if i want.
- Any recommendations of what card/cards I want to get ?
Edit:clarify PCIE3
