I'm gonna be building my first computer around the end of June, and I've put 2 builds together (AMD & Intel), and I was wondering if I could get an "overkill check"? This build will be used to play First Person Shooters (BF3/4 (When released), Diablo 3, MUGEN, and various emulated games. I'll take ALL advice into consideration as I'll use it to learn about hardware and PC building. Things that are already accounted for:

Keyboard, Mouse, Case (Cosmos 2 Black), and Blu-ray drive for CD rom drive

budget is about $2,000, if you can put together a better/effective machine for less I'm all ears, if you want to use the entire cap I'm on board with that too, just looking for the best way to effectively use budget. Here are the links for the builds I'm considering:

Thanks,
B.

Too early to tell. Haswell is coming out early June as is Nvidia's new 700 series graphics cards. I'd save some money with a cheaper motherboard, 8G ram, and a Samsung 840 non pro. Also don't bother with the Velociraptor, it still is several times slower than SSD. In fact, you can get a 500GB Samsung 840 for about $320. That should cover all your storage needs.

Wait until June when the new Haswell and Nvidia 700 comes out.

Cool, I was waiting for that specific reason.. but are you suggesting to wait for the price drop on Ivy bridge and 600 series cards? or to see what Haswell and 700 can bring to the table?

The Haswell has the potential to be a real big processor. It has hooks in it that will greatly ease mult-thread programming so look for more and more multi-threaded software. It should become faster and faster as more and more programs are written with it in mind. Also it is very overclockable, it could be a home run. We will just have to wait and see.

The 700 I just found out today. What is your resolution? For 2560x1440 and higher, you want a Titan or two. For 1920x1080, a 680 or 700 will do.

1920x1080 at the moment, haven't really thought about upgrading the monitor, some games I would have played on my TV.
