Yes, I've bridged the gap with a screwdriver without issues before. Do at your own risk though.

Alternatively, if you or someone you know has any old HDDs or cdrom drives lying around, grab one from the back of one of them.

Or as redeemer said, most places will just give you one for free if you ask them.

You need to bridge the 2nd and 3rd pins with the power cord unplugged for about 5-10 seconds.

To clarify, normal behaviour is for pins 1 and 2 to be bridged with the jumper. Bridging pins 2 and 3 will reset the BIOS.

That button is actually for their usb bios update function. Flashing the bios will of course also reset it but can be risky. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the Sabretooth has a bios reset button.

From Asus troubleshooting:
1.) Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.
2.) Move the jumper cap from pins 1-2 ( default ) to pins 2-3. Keep the cap on pins 2-3 for about 5-10 seconds, then move the cap back to pins 1-2.
3.) Plug in the power cord and turn ON the computer.
4.) Hold down the < Del > key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup to re-enter data.

says on their website it has a clear cmos switch on the rear io

unless i am looking at the wrong motherboard

That's where I'm looking too - however I believe they're stating IF there is a reset button do this etc.
A search for sabretooth z77 cmos gives quotes like the following:
Oddly on a "overclocking oriented" motherboard ASUS didn't give any CMOS clear buttons anywhere and even more they are using jumpers.
Apparently there is no 'clear cmos' switch or button
the clear CMOS is a jumper instead of a button

Have a look here for the function of that button (halfway down the page, USB BIOS Flashback):

If you just need normal behaviour (keeping pins 1 and 2 bridged) without a jumper, you can try powering off and unplugging the pc, and sticking a small piece of foil over pins 1 and 2, making sure nothing else is touching the piece of foil.
IE. cut a tiny piece of foil, and push it down so that the left and middle pins pierce the foil.
Do at your own risk though, and it may not work (though it has worked for me with some electronics instead of soldering), but you're best off trying to get another jumper instead. Just ask at any computer or electronics retailer service desk and they should give you one for free, unless you can find one on the back of a spare HDD or CDROM.
