Hello all,

I'm looking to replace my AMD HD 6850 with a new GPU for upcoming titles and current games. I mostly play BF3, Crysis 3, StarCraft, and other FPS titles. With BF4 coming out I was wondering what would be the better choice for a long lasting card for upcoming titles.

My budget is from $400 to $450 for 1 card, not looking to SLI or crossfire. Currently looking at a EVGA GTX 670 FTW or Sapphire 7970 vapor X GHz edition. I have heard great things about Nvidia and EVGA but not sure if its worth it to switch from AMD.

My rig:
i5 2300 2.8Ghz
8GB Corsair Vengeance ram
Z77A -G43 MSI Motherboard
Corsair 600t White case
Corsair GS600 Power Supply
Resolution: Currently 1920x1080

Not looking to do much over clocking cause I don't feel comfortable doing it.

Thanks for checking in, any advice is appreciated!

Go with the gtx 670 ftw since it is cheaper and compared to the 7970 and gtx 680 there is little difference about 10-5 frames max.

The Sapphire 7970 Vapor X GHz edition is a beast of a card, especially if you aren't going to overclock. Plus you get three free games: Crysis 3, Bioshock, and Far Cry 3 Red Dragon.

It's more money, but I think I would suggest it over the 670.

The GTX 670 is now being bundled with Metro: Last Light to help with the value proposition.

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess I'm wondering if there's a massive difference in performance with these two cards and if the 384 bit and extra 1 GB of ram with make the AMD card last longer through new releases coming. I don't want to replace this new card for awhile.

Thank you again everyone!

This article is about the Titan, but it has some pretty good data on the 7970 GHz and 670 in BF3 and Crysis 3.

http://www.techspot.com/review/644-nvidia-geforce-titan...

The AMD card wins in BF3 and Crysis 3 at higher resolutions and settings. The 670 wins in Crysis 3 at lower resolutions. My guess this is due to drivers and partially due to the 3GB of VRAM on the 7970.

Okay thank you for all the info. Since I mainly play Battlefield and most of the tests show Geforce cards do better with it then I'm gonna try a Nvidia card this time, my first one. Hope the GTX 670 FTW will be enough for BF4 this winter!

Thank you again :)
