Hello Tomshardware people :D

This is my first time posting here in toms:)

I just want to ask. How to overclock a RAM? Specifically G.skill Ripjaws X CL9 F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL 2x4gb 1600 mhz
Timing: 9-9-9-24-2N 1.5V

I read somewhere that you really can't overclock CL9 rams.

I just want to expand my knowledge and learn more about overclocking.

I tried to overclock it but everything seems to fail :)

I already am aware of how little performance boost I can get from doing so that there isn't seems to be any difference at all.

I just really want to expand my knowledge. :)

Specs:
MOBO: Asrock pro 3 z77
CPU: i5-3570k
PSU: Antec HCG-620m 620w 80 bronze

And if possible :)  I would like to get some feedback from people who are overclocking their rams on an Asrock Motherboard. Thank you very much for taking time to read this post.

Go in to bios set the speed custom 1866MHz and then change timing 10-10-10 28 2N and volt 1.5v Save and exit.
Thanks
