How can I set up an OS similar to libraries and schools?

I want to configure my home family computer like the ones in colleges; where when a user modifies and saves any file it will be erased upon shutdown or reboot, as if the final image--"Operating System", Microsoft Office, Chrome, Skype, etc--is saved permanently to the HDD and everything else post modified is saved to volatile storage.

I kept searching Google using search queries such as "school computer setups" or "non persistent boot windows" and I am, unfortunately, unable to get answers.

[REQ] Please tell me what I need to do to set up a preconfigured system image to a non-persistent boot. I need step-by-step directions, such as how to begin customizing an operating system image first (if I need to). Then how to install it with the set up i am looking for.

Yes! Thank you. It does just that, and so simple too. But how is it I cannot hide their icon and schools can? Could it be because I have the standard edition and they have the enterprise edition?

And what do they call this? What is the correct term if I want to Google more similar products?
