Hi, I wear glasses and am getting a lot of discomfort from my headphones, they are a basic Plantronics headset/mic, plugged into the mobo.

mobo specs below.

I have 2 4870's crossfired, all other pci slots are free.

1) I have my 'phones plugged into the pink 3.5mm jack - is this correct, am I using the motherboard to the best of it's ability?

2) if not, can I get some recommends for cheap/good (I know usually mutually exclusive concepts) sounds card/headset combos.

looking at £50/$75 all up.

Soundblaster Audigy cards are pretty cheap but still boast considerable improvement over onboard sound.
www.soundblaster.com

As for the headset, I have a fairly comfortable one, considering glasses as well, however it is at home and I do not recall the name of it... If I remember to I will log in there and update my post with it's name, as I would recommend it for price, comfort and sound quality. It really doesn't matter what you plug into what, though, in my experience... The only rule I follow is do not use a usb headset. They are bleh IMO.

Edit: Audigy cards are regular old PCI, the smaller slots at the bottom of your mobo. They shouldn't get in the way of your GPUs unless I am grossly underestimating your cards' widths.

I have just a look and some sound cards are just pci cards which is fair enough ad some have like an input/output hub that seems to occupy a dvd drive?

what do I need?

also still need some cheap/budget recommends for a good headset for someone who wears glasses

Also, I checked my headset - It is the Plantronics Gamecom 307. Hopefully this is not the one you are currently using.

I wear glasses but this headset has never bothered my ears at all. Other than that, it is cheap while maintaining good sound quality and mic quality. Overall worth the money but not a furtune to find out if it will work for you or not.
