Hi, i've just bought a second hand gaming pc and i'm just trying to get my head around the setup.

one problem i noticed is the front headphone and mic sockets (of the coolermaster haf 912 case) were'nt functioning and lo and behold, they weren't connected in the case.

Is this because they can't be connected to this motherboard? I can't seem to see where i'd plug the cable in?

Oh and if it affects things it's also using an asus xonar d2 soundcard

Many thanks for any help,
Zephyr

Most people don't use front panel audio because the connectors and jacks in alot of cases suck and introduce noise and static. I bet it will work if you hook it up to the motherboard. There are pins on the motherboard, you will need the manual to figure out exactly where.

As for the card, it doesn't look like it has a header to attach Front panel audio to. You would have to use the motherboard audio in order to hook up the front panel. If I was you I would get some extensions for headphone/mic cables and then connect directly to the xonar card, it has much better sound quality.

Thanks for the help, have since found the socket and i'm going to give it a go (although i'm sure you're advice is right)

If i was to do it all through the soundcard, is there a clever setup i could do to avoid having to reach round to the back of my computer everytime i want to change from headphones to speakers, is there an easy way to switch between which is functioning without rewiring every time?

Thanks
