So I need a laptop for college and i wanted to build it. I've been looking at a lot of things and I am confused on how to find motherboards that fit in certain shells. Also I found tons of shells just for the bottom part of the laptop and not the screen part. In the end I want a nice looking alienware case but without the alienware price. On Newegg I can't find any GPU's for laptops and I'm wondering they are usually just integrated into the motherboard or not? Anything advice will help, Thanks!

Simply put, it will be easier and cheaper to just buy a laptop. Parts will be hard to find and expensive, not to mention difficult to put together.

You pretty much cannot 'build' one. Each motherboard, and all the stuff on it, is shaped and customized for that particular case.
Positioning of all the ports, cooling concepts, how the battery plugs in...

^ That sums it up right there. Parts for laptop's are not standardized like they are with desktop's you can't just pick the parts you want and build it. You would spend more time and money trying to do it than it would be worth.

Yeah, DIY laptops is not really feasible.

I was looking to build a custom laptop back in 2007 / 2008 when there were more resources for building a DIY laptop back then compared to right now... And it was difficult back then to build something good and not excessively expensive.

You'll never be able to truly build your own DIY laptop. There's just not a market for it and there's no set of standards for laptops like there are desktops. The TFT screens are also ridiculously expensive by themselves especially the higher resolutions you want to achieve such as 1080P. Laptops are generally custom made per manufacturer specifications and cannot be upgraded or altered most of the time.
