Hi everyone, I work at my local library and function as a 1-man IT department. We're currently going through a few overhauls, and our computer network is on the agenda. I just was wondering if any of you knew of any good computer management programs; I know this is probably one of the basics but I'm only 16 and don't really have any formal IT training (lulz). Basically our computers are managed by a 3rd party remotely and we'd like to cut the cord and manage them ourselves. The computers we're replacing are connected directly to the internet so we don't need any fancy servers but we are putting in a firewall... something else I need to read up on. But, right now, we're trying to figure out what we can use to remotely manage all the computers from one terminal. I've heard of a few, but I'm lost when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks,
Alex

If you just want to be able to connect to them you can use services like LogMeIn, or even just VNC if you have control of the firewall.

If you are looking for full blown monitoring and notifications things get a little tricky (and sometimes expensive). You might want to look at things like N-Able, Kasaya, or Vector Networks products (and piles of other remote management software).
