I have GTX 260M, according to Nvidias autocheck , it is not capable of running Directx11. I have been asking all over if anyone knows of a graphic card for laptops with the same footprint. I have an ASUS G71GX MB G71G model number.
It's an MXM (Mobile PCI Express Module) You need to find out which version(I think it's a ver 2 but not sure) and find an upgrade to match.
You have to completely disassemble the laptop to get to it because of the way your laptop was made.
Here is a video that show show(and why). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpfoKmVSNCQ
Thank you very much for your answer and link. I have found several of them on youtube that demonstrate how to replace the video card. What I am having difficulty with is "find an upgrade to match." I cant find any reference or white papers that cant help me. I also am not sure I know all of the key elements. I know connectivity and wattage but thats about it. Thanks
I think you MIGHT be able to upgrade to a 460m no more than that or you will more than likely have overheating problems. i have heard of people doing it with their G71/72 laptops.
