hi every one i have a network at my home we have abut 5 pc on it 2 of this pc belong to me all i want to do is to connect my 2 pcs to each other and shear files without eny one els on the network seeing them help pls

Windows 7 networking doesn't provide a lot of security on a network. Password protected sharing can be defeated fairly easily. If security is of high importance - use an external hard drive that can be moved between PC's. With Windows 7 networking - it is virtually "share everything" or "share nothing" with everyone on the network.

Pretty simple. Install a second network adapter (wired or wireless) for each PC and establish a second network between them using standard network cable (most modern devices support auto-mdix, so crossover cables are rarely necessary). They will even auto-config themselves using the 169.254.x.x network.

for reel this not helping at all so i besicley cant make coniction pet win my 2 pcs without shering with every one or lose my internet hum.... their most be a way is their is a softwer that can do that if windows cant

It would help if we knew what you did, what advice you followed, so we could diagnose the problem. What did you try?

As I said, it's pretty simple. If you ADD network adapters to the two PCs and connect them directly (if wired, using ethernet cable, if wireless, using adhoc mode), that will create a NEW network. IIRC, by default, Windows will NOT route between the two networks on each PC, not unless these are Windows servers (which very well *might* route by default).

Also, realize that by default, Windows will bind file and printer sharing to both networks. And therefore every resource you share will be bound to both networks. IOW, it’s not enough to create a private network. You need to make sure the various resources you wish to keep confined to that network are only bound to that network. In many cases, as with Windows file and printer sharing, this isn’t the default.

will thank you for your respond . first i have 1-desktop 2- lap top so i cant ad new network card for my laptop
so their is something i tried but coldent run i made my 2 pcs to run with password so i can shear my files between them without eny one abel to access my pcs but wen i try to access my pc from the laptop i enter the other pc name and password but that dosent work and i tried the other way around if i been apel to run this way that good for me

Lets try another approach then. Build a actual separate network for your PC and restrict access.

Lots of ways to do this but if your router can run dd-wrt firmware you can use vlans. You would define 2 different IP ranges and assign ports on the router and run a SSID for each vlan for your wireless. You could then restrict what traffic flows between the vlans. Although a little complex to configure this cost nothing if you have the correct router.

A second more brute force method is to buy a cheap router and hook your 2 devices to it. Running in the default mode you will be running NAT and for the same reason someone on the internet cannot get to your stuff the other PC in your house also can't. This may make things more complex if you would need to play some games on the internet. It also make it more complex if you ever actually DO need to share stuff with the other machines.

Just an alternative... if both computers are already connected to the internet, you could just download a Cloud service like Dropbox and only install them on the two PCs. You can also take advantage of Dropbox's LANSync which will sync the files through your network instead of the slower process of syncing through the internet on Dropbox's servers. Plus, you'd have the advantage of backing up whatever you were sharing to the cloud (until you hit the storage limit, 2GB to start with, unless you pay a subscription)

Another option, install LogMeIn Hamachi on each computer, then have them join the same named network. Now you can share ALL your resources, including files, printers, TCP/IP based services (web server, telnet, rdp, etc.). Although it needs access to the internet for discovery purposes, whenever a network partner is local to another, the connection remains local, so it's efficient. And if one of those partners is portable (say a laptop), it remains accessible on the road via the internet, without making any changes, and in a secure fashion since it uses SSL/TLS.

Essentially what you’re doing w/ Hamachi is creating “virtual” network adapters rather than installing physical network adapters.
