just got into gaming and wondered if the e310 dimension would handle a graphics upgrade ,or is it internal?

From what i'm seeing the graphicas circutry is integrated, it uses Intels GMA line which is integrated in the chipset. I also see no expansion options in terms of a PCI-E or even an AGP port, just PCI. And from reading the Cnet review of it, they mention how it is void of graphics expansion.

There is a trick you can do to make the e310 a tad better... but if you got the money for a newer cheap system with a dual core or better by all means do it. If you don't want to just chunk the e310 to the curb and your getting a better PC then you might really want to try doing this to the e310 just to give yourself a better kick around PC for back up... unfortunately the e310 isn't the best old box for gaming... unless your talking about older games... and you can put at least like a 512Mb ebay cheap card in it. I am currently having BF2 Lan wars with my older son and the e310 is doing great for that. It also is handling Fallout3 set to Ultra at a modest 1152x864 with 8x AA and 15x Anisotropic filtering with HDR and V-sync selected and only has a few hiccups with screen stutter once in a while... think thats due to the P-4 CPU bottlenecking really.

I would recommend you to check it out.
Heres where I posted the story ---> http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/386135-33-video-card-dell-dimension-e310#10694172
...sorry it's a tad long. :sarcastic:

Just on a side... if what Pandoria13 States in this post is good info ---> http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/324693-28-e310
you could raise the CPU to an Intel 672 3.8GHz Pentium 4 and install 2 x 2Gb Ram. Now that and say a Radeon HD 6670 1Gb would give this old box something to work with supposing the PCIe x1 Bus modified could handle the throughput. Still not up to modern game specs but it could do a lot for what it is. I would say a higher order PSU like 400w plus would be advisable also...
but all that for an e310???
I mean... I'm happy the kids can use this one when I'm busy on the other one or I can do what I'm doing now with mine - writing this post. I had the box lying around and the upgrades +$22 spent and I'm really pleased with where it's at.
I do like topping stuff out... even if it's pointless. It's like racing out a 2006 Toyota Corolla - a deranged hobby. So I may go the 2x2 Gig RAM route myself and if I can get a dirt cheap 3.8Ghz P-4 then yeah. Why not? The GPU and PSU will stay what they are though.
Just thought I'd share.
