I have connected my ipod touch 4g to my new windows 8 laptop via bluetooth. it
shows up in both the ipod and in the windows settings as being connected.
however, once connected, i am unable to do anything with the connection. There
is no Windows tile showing the ipod, no obvious options in the ipod for how I
can do anything with the connection, nothing. What am I supposed to be able to
do once I have connected them via bluetooth? Is there a step I'm missing? I've
read you can stream podcasts to the computer, for example, but there's supposed to be a windows tile showing the ipod which I'm definitely not getting either in the start menu or when i search.

First, make sure you've installed your drivers. To add a bluetooth device, you can do one of the following:

Press Windows+I and then click Change PC settings. Click Devices then Add a Device.

Click the Bluetooth logo on the System Tray and select Add a Device from the menu.

Press Windows+W and search for "bluetooth." Select Add Bluetooth device from the search results.

Any of the steps brings you to the Change PC settings screen. If your USB Bluetooth receiver was installed properly, Windows 8 will scan for available Bluetooth devices. Select a device from the list and the pairing process will begin. A huge PIN number banner will pop up on your screen along with a message telling you to enter the PIN on your Bluetooth device - do so.

The device will be added, and will remain dormant as a profile until you start doing stuff with it.

Hope this helps!
